Playing a musical instrument or singing could help keep the brain healthy in older age. Practising and reading music may help sustain good memory and the ability to solve complex tasks, their study says.

The Choir has a current membership of around 21 singers divided into four sections: First Tenor, Second Tenor, Baritone and Bass. Members are not exclusively from Brixham but are drawn from all around Torbay. Many of the members do not read music but enjoy singing and creating beautiful harmonies. The Choir sings a wide variety of secular and sacred songs including music from the shows and modern classics.
Members encourage and support one another, both with singing and camaraderie. Practice tracks are available to members to assist with learning the choir’s repertoire. New potential members will be invited to attend a few rehearsals to get a taste of the music and techniques. They can then apply to join, the current subscription is £200 per year (this can be paid quarterly).
Many new members have joined the Choir following their attendance at one of our concerts. Should you enjoy what you hear please introduce yourself to any Choir member or to our Musical Director.
