The Brixham Orpheus Male Voice Choir was founded in 1954 and in 2024 it is celebrating its 70th Anniversary. The BOMVC is a traditional male voice choir singing in four part harmony. The music catalogue is drawn from a wide variety of styles from sacred songs, music from the shows and modern classics.
The choir rehearses every Thursday between 7pm and 9pm at the Christian Community Centre, Fore Street, Brixham, TQ5 8DS. There are a number of concerts throughout the year, often with guest choirs and other musical performers. There is a regular series of outdoor concerts in the summer held on Brixham Quay. Many of the choir’s concerts are held to raise money for local and national charities and during its 70 year history very many thousands of pounds have been raised.
The choir is available to perform concerts for local organisations, churches, charities, or to sing at weddings and funerals. If you would like to book the choir then please use the button above or contact our Secretary, John Pither via email secretary@bomvc.co.uk.
Choral singing is a very social activity and the choir is a very friendly and supportive organisation. In addition to performing concerts there are several social events including an Annual Dinner, for choristers and their guests, as well as Coffee Mornings to help raise money for choir funds.
Come along and give us a try at one of our practice sessions, no audition is required.
Singing is one of the mega-mechanisms we use for bonding. Singing in the shower gives you a bit of an uplift, but when doing it communally, there’s something about the synchrony of singing that creates this massive endorphin uplift.
