Anne Fairey – Choir Accompanist<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Anne was born in North London and started piano lessons at the age of 7, progressing to grade 8 during 6th form. She took music A level alongside sciences and went to Medical School in Southampton, qualifying as a doctor and starting her career in the NHS here. During this time she became Musical Director for thirteen Medical Revues, including two stints at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.  She also played keyboard in a blues band featuring two saxophones and wittily called Bisaxual! The band played regularly at various \u2018medical\u2019 events in and around Southampton.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anne continued to play intermittently and had a successful piano duet partnership which took part in many local festivals and competitions in Hampshire as well as performing, including for a full screening of Alfred Hitchcock\u2019s silent film ‘The Lodger’. During this time both partners passed their grade 7 theory and they jointly achieved another grade 8 with Distinction.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anne\u2019s medical career progressed and she joined the pharmaceutical industry becoming a Medical Director and later a Chief Medical Officer, a position which she still holds. She moved to Torbay in 2019 when her son started at secondary school, and has recently found a new piano duet partner; they have already won the Open Duet Cup of the Torbay and South West of England Music Festival twice, and Anne has also won solo awards at the festival. She joined the Choir in October 2021,and also accompanies some youth instrumental groups for the Torbay and South Devon Music Centre.                   <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
